The High Line
A 2.3 kilometre park built on a disused railway spur raised above the streets of Manhattan's West Side. Planting designed by Piet Oudolf grows between the old rails, and the idea came from the Coulée verte, an elevated walk in Paris finished in 1993.

Near The High Line
Flatiron Building 1.5 km

Empire State Building 1.6 km
An Art Deco skyscraper of 102 storeys, built between 1930 and 1931 and named after the nickname of New York state. It stands 443 metres to the tip of its antenna and was the tallest building in the world for almost four decades, until 1970.
Intrepid Museum 1.9 km

A 427 metre tower beside Grand Central, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and opened in 2020, the fourth tallest building in the city. Its SUMMIT observation deck near the top is lined with mirrors and glass that multiply the view over Midtown.
Grand Central Terminal 2.4 km
A Beaux-Arts rail terminal at 42nd Street and Park Avenue, the southern end of the Metro-North lines from the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. Its Main Concourse, with a gold clock at its centre and constellations painted across the ceiling, is one of the grandest rooms in the city.
Rockefeller Center 2.5 km
A complex of 19 commercial buildings in Midtown, its 14 original Art Deco towers commissioned by the Rockefeller family around a sunken plaza. In winter the plaza becomes a skating rink beneath a giant Christmas tree, and the Top of the Rock deck looks straight up Central Park.
St. Patrick's Cathedral 2.7 km
The largest Gothic Revival Catholic cathedral in North America, filling a whole block of Fifth Avenue opposite Rockefeller Center. James Renwick Jr. designed it, and it is both a parish church and the seat of the Archbishop of New York.
