Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi
The mother church of the Franciscan friars, in the town where Saint Francis was born and died, and one of the great pilgrimage churches of Italy. Two churches stand one above the other, with frescoes attributed to Giotto and Cimabue, and the saint's tomb lies in the crypt.
