Three sheer, battlement-like towers of rock in the Sexten Dolomites, among the best known mountain shapes in the Alps. A loop path runs right round their base, and from the north side the three faces line up side by side.
Swiss National Park 124 km
Founded in 1914, the oldest national park in the Alps and in Central Europe, set in the Engadin between Zernez, S-chanf, Scuol and the Fuorn Pass. Its forests and high valleys are left entirely to nature, and red deer, chamois and ibex roam its marked trails.
Scrovegni Chapel 128 km
A small chapel in Padua whose walls are covered from floor to vaulted blue ceiling in frescoes by Giotto, painted in the early 14th century. Visitors go in small groups through a climate-controlled room, and the cycle is counted among the founding works of Western painting.
