Miramare Castle
A white castle built from 1856 to 1860 right on the Gulf of Trieste for Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria and his wife Charlotte of Belgium, later emperor and empress of Mexico. Behind it a large park of gardens climbs away from the sea.
